McDougal Field Renamed in Honor of Dan Dowling

Today, the Belmont Redwood Shores Youth Softball Association at its spring season closing ceremony renamed Field 2 at McDougal Park as Dan Dowling Field in recognition of his services to Belmont Redwood Shores softball.

Dan Dowling is the former President and current Director of Coaching of the BRSYSA. His daughter Phoebe Dowling played in the league and for Carlmont High School. Even after his daughter aged out of the league, Dan has been actively involved with the BRSYSA. Dan volunteered to coach the 8U Rec summer team when there was a paucity of coaches emerging from the Covid pandemic. He has since been associated with the league as the Director of Coaching, training and mentoring coaches. Dan also founded and coached the inaugural BRSYSA T-ball league last year.
